Manzi Léon Rwanda, b. 2001
In this series, Manzi Leon continues his exploration of Latitude of Expression, a space of intimate self-discovery and emotional depth, where Black women persist, reflect, and thrive. The sea emerges as a metaphor for transformation, fluidity, and inner strength. Blending precise realism with expressive abstraction, Leon renders faces with clarity while allowing other forms to shift and dissolve. This contrast becomes a visual language, balancing control and freedom, stillness and movement. These works invite introspection, offering a quiet but powerful reflection on resilience, vulnerability, and the courage to evolve.
