from the artist’s struggle to find images of
women in a state of undisturbed repose,
the piece is inspired by a found family
photograph. The subject’s direct gaze as
she sits confidently on a sofa is an act of
claiming space and the right to pause. It
challenges the notion that productivity is a
woman’s primary value.
