Abalingirizi (from the Luganda okulingiriza,
meaning ‘to peep’) investigates the fine line
between observation and intrusion. In an
age of intelligence gathering and relentless
research, the work poses a critical question:
how does one ‘peep’ ethically? It is a call to
infuse witness with care, challenging the
extractive nature of looking and
advocating for a gaze that respects, rather
than appropriates, the subject.
