ROOM TAKEOVER: What happens when an artist takes over a room?

AKKA ROOM TAKEOVER is an invitation to make space for the unexpected.

For one month, the familiar language of the gallery is interrupted. The white walls become a canvas for a different kind of presence. The room is no longer defined by what is on display, but by what is happening inside it.

It is about process rather than presentation. 
Curiosity rather than expectation.
Encounter rather than exhibition.

An artist arrives. A room changes.

Ideas develop, conversations happen, works emerge, disappear, are reworked and begin again. Visitors may enter at any point in this process — not to see something finished, but to witness something becoming.

The programme creates a space between studio and gallery, private practice and public encounter, artist and audience.

It is deliberately small.

One room. One artist. One month.

A temporary occupation that leaves something behind — perhaps a body of work, perhaps a conversation, perhaps simply a different way of seeing the room.

And perhaps that is the point: to create space for art before it becomes an exhibition.
