Art Dubai is back for its 17th edition this year. From beautiful paintings to innovative installations, there will be a wide spectrum of art for visitors to discover. Whether you’re a professional artist, an art connoisseur or just an intrigued art lover, you’ll love these highlights of Dubai’s annual art fair.
 
ABOUT ART DUBAI
Held under the tutelage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Art Dubai is an international art fair that takes place every year during the month of March. 
The festival features more than 100 exhibitors from over 40 countries, thought-provoking talks, engaging summits and a whole lot more. It is among the biggest annual celebrations in Dubai.
 
ART DUBAI 2024 LOCATION AND DATES
The event will take place in Madinat Jumeirah Conference & Events Centre on King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street in Al Sufouh 1. Art Dubai dates and timings are as follows:
  • Friday, 1st March | 02:00 pm – 09:00 pm | Public hours
  • Saturday, 2nd March | 02:00 pm – 09:00 pm | Public hours
  • Sunday, 3rd March| 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (VIP hours) | 12:00 pm – 04:00 pm, | Public hours
 
WHAT TO EXPECT AT ART DUBAI 2024
 
ART ZONES
For the 2024 edition of Art Dubai, the galleries will feature works from the Middle East to India. The prominent art zones displayed will include Contemporary, Modern, Digital and Bawwaba.
 
CONTEMPORARY ZONE
Art Dubai Contemporary Zone showcases galleries from around the globe to foster exploration and discovery in the world of contemporary art. Prepare to marvel at works from galleries across major cities like New York, Mumbai and also some local talent in Dubai. Examples for the 17th edition in the Contemporary Zone include Backdrifters courtesy of Gallery 1957 from London and works from Emirati led Aisha Alabbar Gallery.

MODERN ZONE
Art Dubai Modern will focus on the cultural dynamics that “gave rise to the Global South.” It will be curated by Assistant Professor of Art History at the American University of Sharjah, Dr. Christianna Bonin
The section will showcase artists from Eastern Europe, Latin America, Africa, Central and South Asia.

BAWWABA
Bawwaba refers to “gateway” in Arabic. Curated by Emiliano Valdes — Chief Curator of the Museum of Modern Art, Medellin.  
The work will include 10 solo presentations of artwork created for the fair, with artists from the Global South.

DIGITAL ZONE
Curated by co-directors of IAM-Infinity Art Museum in the metaverse Alfredo Cramerotti and Auronda Scalera, a popular curator, educator and arts writer, Art Dubai Digital will be back, exhibiting projects that combine the world of art and technology.

ART DUBAI COMMISSION 2024
The non-profit Art Dubai Commission platform 2024 will allow artists from UAE to South Asia the chance to showcase their work themed around community, hope and the power of art. Participating artists will be announced soon.
CAMPUS ART
Campus Art Dubai 11.0 (CAD) Professional Development offers art professionals exclusive insights into the vast industry. It offers professional opportunities for career growth and offers in-depth understanding of the functionalities of different creative institutions.

During the fair’s 17th edition, the CAD Professional Development programme will run alongside the traineeship programme. It will allow individuals to undertake tasks within the industry under the guidance of Art Dubai’s senior members. It will include:

  • Art Dubai Placement: Involves placement in different categories like Programming which oversees the development of the fair’s partner and non-commercial programmes. Others include VIP Relations and Fair Production.
  • Art Dubai Masterclass: Includes masterclasses on Intro to Art and Finance as well as Contemporary Art and the History of Art Fairs among others.
  • Additional Programming: Members of the CAD programme have access to workshops on career building, mentorship with senior staff and more.

 

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMME

The A.R.M Holding Children’s Programme will collaborate with local schools to host a workshop for budding artists and designers at the festival. Art Dubai 2024 will feature a Creative Play Area. Kids will be able to engage with materials associated with the previous editions of the fair.

This is expected to be the largest edition of the programme to date. It will reach special needs, government and private schools across the country.

GLOBAL ART FORUM 2024PREDICTING THE PRESENT

Global Art Forum is a Dubai-based transdisciplinary summit that takes place annually. The summit hosts live talk sessions with over 500 art professionals including museum directors, filmmakers and others. 

The theme for Global Art Forum 17 is “Whether or Not.” It explores the relationship between extreme weather and change. Here is a list of some of the speakers.

TALKS

Art Dubai 2024 will feature a series of talks, discussions and debates about the past, present and future of the community.

ART DUBAI MODERN TALKS 2024

Modern Talks will explore the artistic links by Soviet geopolitics of the cold war. This will be presented in collaboration with Dubai Collection. The Modern Talks will commence from 29th February to 3rd March, 2024.

COLLECTOR TALKS

Collector Talks will be a series of discussions with art collectors about shifts in emerging epicentres with a focus on the forces shaping global arts and culture. The talks will be from 29th February to 2nd March, 2024. 

THE ART BUSINESS CONFERENCE

The event will feature The Art Business Conference, which is a global platform to discuss key issues in the world of art. The conference will convene art galleries, advisors, museum directors and curators to share their thoughts about the scope and future of sustainable art.

TALKS

Art Dubai Talks 2024 will bring you an array of sessions, featuring a diverse range of creatives who will engage in discussions about the emerging trends.
