For the first time, AKKA Project will take part in Africa Basel 2025 - an exciting moment that aligns with the energy of Art Basel week and celebrates the depth of contemporary African creativity.
We are proud to present a compelling selection of artists—Osaru Obaseki, Beau Disundi Nzazi, Alexandre Kyungu, and Option Dzikamai Nyahunzvi—each offering unique perspectives and powerful narratives through their practice.
Featured Artists:
Osaru Obaseki (Nigeria): A multidisciplinary artist working primarily with oil and palette knife, Osaru explores themes of spirituality, introspection, and transformation through richly textured, emotive portraits.
Beau Disundi Nzazi (Democratic Republic of Congo): His multimedia practice reflects the complexities of Congolese identity, history, and urban life, blending symbolism and abstraction with bold visual language.
Alexandre Kyungu (Democratic Republic of Congo): Known for his cartographic-inspired works, Kyungu merges painting, drawing, and sculpture to explore post-colonial narratives and spatial memory.
Option Dzikamai Nyahunzvi (Zimbabwe): Through vivid colors and symbolic patterning, Nyahunzvi delves into personal and collective heritage, spiritual rituals, and contemporary African consciousness.
This presentation at Africa Basel represents a continued step in AKKA Project’s mission to champion African artists across the globe. Join us in celebrating these voices as they resonate within the vibrant conversations of Basel’s art week.
