AJOKINA NWA AJOKIS (SPRITES OF GOODNESS)
This work re-envisions animist spirits (ajokina) from Ateso tradition, whose roles as custodians of nature
were diminished by colonial and Judeo-Christian beliefs. Using generic poses and masquerade aesthetics,
the artist yanks these sprites from a lost past and re-imagines them as guardians for the present.
